DIY Ombre Hair Color Using Crepe Paper!

In case you haven't heard yet, coloring your hair using Crepe Paper is the newest fad! Ombre Blue and Puple or Green-tipped hair, anyone? This inexpensive school supply has got us covered! For only Php 10 each, you can now say hello to in-trend, ombre hair!

I just love inexpensive, D.I.Y. hacks like this! And the best thing about this is that it is not permanent. I mean, I wouldn't want purple tips for 6 months or a year! As a blogger, I have to consider that my purple hair won't go well with a red polka dot print dress. Hehe

Using Crepe Paper to dye your hair would give you vibrant hair color for 2 weeks maximum! I say, that is just perfect if you want to try something new for a short period of time or want to look extra-special for an occasion. And the best part? You won't have to spend too much! Php 20 is all you need!

Please watch the video for the full CREPE PAPER Hair Color Tutorial!

Frequently Asked Questions :

1.) Where can I buy crepe paper?
- I got mine from National Bookstore. If you are not from the Philippines, check your local bookstore, art supply store or stationery store.

2.) Is Crepe Paper same as party streamers?
- If you are pertaining to THIS, then my answer is YES.

3.) What is the salt for?
- The salt helps the dyeing process to make the color bond more to your hair. If you are afraid this would damage your hair, feel free to skip this step.

4.) Is it permanent?
- Using Crepe Paper to color your hair is NOT permanent and will eventually wash off.

5.) How long will it last?
- For people that have normal hair, the color lasts up to 5 days. Since my hair is coarse and chemically-treated, the green color lasted 2 weeks.

6.) I have black hair, will this work?
- I am afraid it won't work, especially if you have "virgin" hair that has never been dyed nor treated before.

7.) How do I get rid of the color?
- The color will fade overtime. But if you want to get rid of it before waiting for it to naturally fade, then you can go ahead and color the tips of your hair the same color as the roots.

8.) I'm 10, can I color my hair with this? |  Will it damage my hair?
- Yes, baby girl! This WILL damage your hair! Since they use chemicals to dye the crepe paper, you are also basically using toxic to dye your hair. 10 is too young to try anything harsh. Please go ahead and appreciate the natural color and smoothness of your hair. :)

9.) Should I shampoo my hair after?
-After soaking the hair for 15-30 minutes, rinse your hair and use your favorite conditioner to tame the dryness and prevent damage. Skip shampoo so the color sets and does not fade.

10.) Will it stain my clothes/pillows?
- After the first wash, dry your hair completely before using any white or light fabric. After drying, it won't stain fabrics anymore. But just to be sure, use dark or black fabrics until the next day.

In case you were wondering what conditioner I used, I used my new favorite Palmolive Naturals Cream Conditioner! Yay! Have you watched the video I made regarding this product? If you haven't yet, please watch it HERE.

Here's how my hair looks in PURPLE!

Since my roots are in BROWN, Purple tips look a bit awkward. I also wondered why the ends became black instead of the vibrant purple that I wanted. Because I was so frustrated, I decided to dye the tips in Green the next day! I know, I know, that's torture to my hair.... But Brown>Purple>Black is just unflattering!

Then, I dyed my hair in GREEN! And the result was satisfying! No wonder, most people that dye their hair using crepe paper use green as well. Aside from the fact that it transfers the color to the hair easily, it is also the color that compliments brown the most!

I love this D.I.Y. ombre hair color hack! I recommend this to people that want to try something new but don't have the courage to stick with it for months and months. It is also a great way for people to touch-up their ombre purple, green or blue hair without having to spend thousands at a salon again!

Thank you so much for reading our blog today!
Let me know if you have tried this or if you would be willing to dye your hair using a school material.
If so, which color would you pick?

Vlog: Junca Hair Salon + New Camera (Casio TR60)

I recently discovered a new salon, it's the Junca Salon near ABS-CBN. It's a high-end Japanese salon that recently opened. I'm happy that I got to try it first. Today, I'll be sharing my experience at Junca.

This is what I saw when I went to the salon. I thought there was a press conference but turned out, this is just the usual set up at Junca.

LOCATION: 58 Sgt. Esguerra Avenue, South Triangle, Quezon City

This is the interior of the salon. I was impressed because it doesn't look like the other salons I've been to. I really like the simple and modern interior that they did.

I know you missed our vlogs so I decided to film a video. I also got a new camera that I am very excited to review for you guys! It's my dream camera, the Casio Exilim TR60!
I hope you enjoy the video.

Let's be honest, one of the things that people want is to be treated as a VIP. Junca Salon has a VIP area for their VIP customers. It looks so cozy! I also like bright rooms with natural light from the sun so that's one of the things I appreciate about Junca Salon.

Because it's a Japanese Salon, of course they offer new hair technology to their customers!

Hey, girls and guys! I'm on Instagram! Please follow me if you haven't yet! User name is @RealAsianBeauty!

One of the new treatments that I've tried is this hydrogen infusion that infuses nutrients to the hair in a safe and non-damaging manner.

Have you guys heard of COLD HAIR IRON?! I tried it for the first time at Junca Salon! Instead of ironing hair using heat, they use cold/frozen treatment. This is called the Amino Acid hair treatment.

They will apply the cream on hair and then they will iron the hair to let the hair absorb the cream. What makes this different is that they uses cold hair iron! How amazing is that?? I was impressed when I tried this new hair technology at Junca!

I really appreciate service workers that are eager about their work. My attendant that day, Rose, was very nice. I liked how she took care of me and made me feel really pampered.

By the way, a lot of you guys have been asking about the contact lenses that I use these days, It's the World Series Lenses that I got from www.LensCircle.com. I just alternate the colors Brown, Gray and Blue. I love it because though it does not look very natural, it looks subtle compared to lenses that have thick, dark circle around it. It also comes in three-tone color so the lenses pop against my dark brown eyes.

I had my haircut, too. Though I have to be honest that I did not like my haircut. It was plain and wasn't very appealing. I wish the stylist put more layer or curve to my hair when she cut it. I also think she should smile a bit more so her customer would feel more comfortable with her.
Looking at this picture, don't you agree she needs to smile more at her clients?

This is the final result of my hair makeover at Junca Salon! Yay! What do you think?

Because my nails were already ugly, I also decided to get my nails done.

Though I am a nail artist, I have to admit I haven't tried gel nail polish before. It's not because I am way behind the trend but maybe because I am not yet ready for that kind of commitment. I mean, 2 weeks with the same color is too much for me! I need to change it at least every 4 days!Hehe

I was excited to try the gel nail polish service at Junca!

If there is one color I can stand being with for 2 weeks or so, that color would definitely be PINK!

This is how it looks on my nails. The brand is not Orly but I just decided to put the nail polish around my hand to make the photo picturesque! Hehe

Thanks so much to Junca Salon for having me over as one of the first bloggers to ever visit their salon! Yay!

Here is a mini OOTD picture! Hehe

Do you guys miss me doing OOTDs?I miss it, too! I wish I could get my DSLR from Canon back and meet a new fiend that would be willing to take my photos so I could post outfits for you guys again!

And in case you have not heard yet, I GOT A NEW CAMERA!! I've been announcing this everywhere so it's impossible that you missed that one great news! Hehe

It's my dream Casio Exilim TR60! You see Xiaxue and Cheeserland use this camera and now you will see me with it, too! Yay! I used this camera to film this Vlog video and to take all the photos in this blog post! How impressive!

I got my Casio Exilim TR60 and my other Casio Exilim cameras from Camerahaus! Such a relief that now, I won't have to go abroad or order online just so I could get the latest Exilim cameras! And you won't have to, either. Camerahaus now sells Casio cameras! Yay!

For more details about Casio Exilim cameras, check out Casio Philippines Facebook Page HERE.

Thank you for reading today! Please stay tuned for a new video that I am editing now. Should be up Saturday or Sunday this week.

How To Retouch Hair Roots (Hair Color Re-Growth)

If you color your hair often, I am sure that some of the things that bother you are the fact that the color fades and that you would have to color after a few weeks or months due to hair regrowth.

Today, I will share with you some lessons I have learned when retouching or recoloring hair roots!

Here is a photo showing how my hair looked before recoloring and after recoloring. In the left photo, you can see that my hair shows my natural black hair. It looked awkward because the tips are still in bright brown. While in the right photo, you can see that my hair color is even. The tips are back to being bright and colorful!

So, the question now is "How does one properly and correctly retouch the roots?"

A few weeks ago, I used the L'oreal Paris Excellence Fashion to color my hair growth. If want to read the tutorial and see more photos, please click HERE.

Sure, retouching the color is easy when you have someone to help you. Or better yet, get it done at a salon! But, what if you just want to color it at home on your own? I like the L'oreal Excellence Hair Color because it was designed and perfected to make it so easy to use!

It comes with a comb applicator to make coloring a breeze, even if you are just doing it by yourself.

HAIR RE-GROWTH Coloring DO's and DON'TS

DO :
  1. Use the same color (same brand, if possible) that you used before to color your hair.
  2. Combine the hair colorant and the developer well. Be sure you color your hair right away to prevent the hair colorant from oxidizing.
  3. Apply the color on the roots first!
  4. Leave it on your hair for 30 minutes. (or as written on the instructions.)
  5. If you notice that the color of your ends are also fading, apply hair color on the roots then leave it for 10 minutes.

DON'T:

  1. Do not over process (or leave hair color on hair) for too long. This might make the shade too light! Worse, it could damage your hair.
  2. Do not color your hair when not necessary.(When hair color is still vibrant or when there are no regrowth yet.)
  3. Do not color your hair jet black if you wish to go lighter after a few weeks or months. It would be so difficult to color your hair once you go black!

If you get all the tips right, then you will surely say hello to an even, vibrant and glorious hair color!!

Oh, by the way! I am so excited to tell you guys that the L'Oreal Hair Color Tutorial I did back in December has been launched now!! Ahhh! I am so happy! It came out right around the Chinese New Year. So, I am praying 2016 Year of the Monkey gives me more blessings and opportunities like this one! I am so flattered!

L'oreal Excellence Hair Color Review

I can not remember the last time I had black hair color. Maybe it's because I love my hair with color too much that I haven't decided to go black just yet! Because I color it too often, I have also tried a lot of hair color brands!
Today, I will review L'oreal Excellence Fashion Hair Color.

This is one of the newest hair products of L'oreal. This particular hair coloring brand has variants of color fit for the trendy and edgy people! Why? Because the colors are so rich and vibrant!

The L'oreal Excellence Fashion is a complete set of D.I.Y. hair color. What I like about it is that it comes with a color applicator brush that sticks to the bottle. I always color my hair on my own, without the help of other people. The most difficult part is reaching hard-to-reach areas like the crown of the head and the nape. But with this brush applicator, I am sure that reaching those areas will now be a breeze!

In the box :

  • Protective Pre-color Serum
  • Protective Creme Colorant
  • Creme Developer
  • Portective Conditioner
  • High-Quality Gloves

SHADE : 6.13 Golden Nude Brown

Step 1 : Squeeze generous dose of the Protective Pre-Serum into the hand.

Apply it to the lengths and ends and then leave it in while you color your hair. This Pre-Serum will protect that hair from getting damaged. The ends and tips of the hair is usually the part that gets damaged when coloring the hair. The Pre-Serum will help minimize damage.

Step 2 : Mix the color. Pour Creme colorant into the Developer bottle.

Step 3 : Replace applicator cap and shake vigorously.

Step 4 : Place the comb applicator to easily glide through hair and to ensure equally distribution of colorant on the hair.

*Be sure to wear your Colorist Gloves!

Step 5 : Apply color mixture first to the roots and/or grey area. Then, part your hair into small, even sections using the applicator comb. Lastly, spread it all through the hair.

LET IT DEVELOP FOR 30 MINUTES.

Step 6 : Rinse hair then apply generous amount of the Protective Conditioner. Rinse thoroughly.

Annnnnd, this is how my hair looks after coloring! I have been wanting to try "Ash" shade of hair color. This one is perfect because it's not too Ash-y and not to bright!

LIKES :

  • No stingy smell
  • Doesn't burn the skin or scalp
  • Doesn't leave color stain on skin
  • Color doesn't drip
  • Easy application, thanks to comb applicator
  • Didn't dry my hair after application
  • Color was vibrant
  • My hair was soft and shiny, even after coloring!

DISLIKES :

  • Not enough product in the pack to color long hair

What I liked the most is that my hair did not get dry or felt damaged at all. In fact, it was smoother and silkier after using this hair colorant! It could be because of the Protective Conditioner which was so, so good! I was able to use the product in the bottle for 3 times. So, the conditioner was probably one of the reasons why the colorant didn't damage my hair. Nonetheless, it is a good product from L'oreal! Go ahead and try it, too!

What do you think of my new hair color? Do you think I should keep coloring my hair or go back to black for once? I value your opinion so let me know what you think by leaving a comment below!

Hair Rebonding at Cedar Salon

One of the things I can't live without, aside from food, is definitely hair rebonding! Hair Rebonding is a chemical hair straightening treatment that "bonds" the hair to leave it looking straight, soft and shiny. It can straighten even the curliest or kinkiest hair! I used to have beautiful black and straight hair as a child but I remember my hair got so damaged when my aunt did a lot of treatments on my hair back in elementary school. Since then, my hair never became healthy and naturally straight again. When I was in college, I discovered the magical hair rebonding treatment! Since then, it has become my routine to get this treatment once or twice a year.

I have tried many salons, some of them were great while some of them were a miss. This time, I tried Cedar Salon's Hair Rebonding treatment for the first time! Was it a hit or a miss? Keep on reading to find out!

Cedar Salon is located at 200 Wilson Street, San Juan, Quezon City. It is a few blocks away if you are coming from Greenhills. What I like about this salon is the calming vibe. The ambiance is sophisticated and calm, truly a great place to get pampered!

Anyway, I knew the treatment was going to take at least 5 hours, so I made sure to bring a book with me.

And speaking of long hours on the hair, one would definitely get hungry and thirsty. Cedar serves one of the best-tasting iced tea that I have tasted. I have asked twice but the staff said they don't know what brand it is. huhu

Back to the treatment, if you've never had it I am sure you are wondering why the treatment takes such a long time. It's because the hair stylist needs to work on your hair intricately. The hair must be ironed in tiny sections to ensure that the entire hair is sleek straight!

Good thing, two people worked together on my hair. Here's Cedar Salon's hairstylist, Jake and his partner for the day, Belen.

I am embarrassed to show this photo to you guys, to be honest! Since I mostly check my front view in the mirror, I didn't know that my hair was actually this worse! Ackk! The last time I had hair rebond was in January 2015, so of course, regrowth would be dry, frizzy and ugly again!

FIRST STEP : The first step is to wash the hair to make sure there are no hair products prior to the treatment. Then, it will be blow dried and then will be divided into sections. The hair straightening cream will now be applied on it. This will be left on the hair for about 20 minutes.

If your hair is "virgin", the stylist could treat the entire hair with the straightening cream. If you had hair rebond before, it is suggested that you only have your roots or regrowth treated to prevent any further damage to your hair.

SECOND STEP : The second step is to wash the hair thoroughly and then to blow dry it once more. Again, it will be divided into small sections and now the stylist will proceed to ironing the hair. I have never tried rebonding someone's hair before but I do iron my hair and I know how painstaking it could get to try to straighten each section to make it look perfect! That is why this part takes the longest to do.

What I don't like, though, is perfectly straight hair without shape or volume. I just hate the "broom" look on hair! So, I asked the hair stylist to iron my hair inward so the tips get some shape.

THIRD STEP : The next step is to apply "neutralizer" on the hair and leave it on for another 20 minutes. After that, the hair will be rinsed once more. If you availed of any hair treatment, this is the time where the stylist would apply it on your hair and then leave it for some 15 minutes.

What I liked about Cedar Salon is that it is a Schwarzkopf salon. Meaning they only use the famous brand for all their hair treatments! None of the creams hurt my scalp or stung my eyes and nose! It was so good!

FINAL STEP :The final step is to blow dry the hair. Some stylists might even iron it a bit to achieve the final shape or straightness that you desire. You will then be asked not to wash your hair for at least 3 days to make the chemical "bond" your hair further.

And, voila! Here's my hair after 5 hours being on the chair! Perfect, beautiful, flawless straight!

I love that the hair stylists listened to me and gave my hair some volume. As I have mentioned before, don't you guys hate it when you have to fight with a hair stylist just because he/she won't listen to what you really want to do with your hair?

I am so glad that I liked the result! Straight crown and bangs yet volumized and shaped ends!

How do you guys like it? I do like it, for sure!

If you are interested to avail any of Cedar Salon's Services, kindly click on the photo to see the prices of their treatments. Follow them on Instagram, @CedarSalon if you want to know more.

I definitely give this salon a thumbs up! I really liked their hair rebonding service and would definitely go back for another hair treatment!

Thanks for reading today! I want to know what you think of my new hairstyle. Oh, I noticed that the hair rebonding kind of made my hair color ligthen a bit. I would like to know if you guys prefer me with my old light brown/blonde hair (Balayage, perhaps?) or if I should go dark and black all the way? I will re-color my hair soon so please let me know your suggestion!

Don't forget to follow me on Instgram. I'm only a few "follows" away from hitting 5,000! Make it happen for me, please? It's @RealAsianBeauty.
